We finally decided to get sydney BIG kid bed. she was not climbing out of her crib but she was having a hard time sleeping through the night. So better now than later and she LOVES it! She really loves her pillow, bed and bedding!! Craig talked me into getting her the pillow top mattress and it is comfy! Syd is sleeing like a rock in the new bed! Maybe it was time! ;) (Not to mention she can jump on it too)

craig and i decided that we should get working on the basement. we were hoping that it might be done this winter. as always it takes longer than expected. criag is doing most of the work and so far it looks very nice. sydney has her own playhouse that connects to the space under the stairs. as soon as it was framed she would run in there and say come in my house. it will have her own porch light on the house. so fun. also in the basement is LOTS of storage space - for all of craigs things ;)haha, an office, guest bedroom, and a family/poker room! we are putting up finish trim shortly and then of course craig will be painting. hope it will be done soon sydney is ready to scooter around down there.

we had a fun thanksgiving this year doing both sides of the family. our neice on craigs side of the family had to work durning the day so they moved there dinner to late in the day. Both dinners we really good. We went to my moms for dinner in the early afternoon and my aunt and uncle were in town from vernal. It was good to visit with them because it has been a while since i have been out to vernal to see them. They also have a granddaughter named sydney and she is only 4 months older than my sydney that was fun to chat about the little ones. Then it was off to jim & deanna's for turkey dinner #2. i was still a little full from the first dinner so my helpings were just a bit smaller. kurt was in town from st. george so that was fun to have him there. sydney had so much fun going to both grandmas. when we were driving home sydney says...lets go to both grandmas again!

nothing like having all your family around for the holidays. i think thanksgiving is one of my favorites. i am so thankful for so many things in my life. i feel very blessed to have such a wonderful husband, daughter and family. i would not be who i am today without them. i can think of hundreds of things i am thankful for...too many to list them all. happy thanksgiving everyone! now lets bring on the christmas!!

we bought tickets to the heber valley railroad and decided to go on Halloween to use them. it was a raining a cold day. the mountains were beautiful but the train ride was not so much what i was expecting. guess it is something you have to do at least once just to say you have rode the train! ??

craig's hunting season has started! so one morning sydney and i played in the garden and went to the park while he was away. we are having really warm temps right now in october and i am hoping it lasts! in the morning when i go in syds room to get her up she always asks where daddy is. she knows usually daddy is at work or hunting the ducks! she is starting to relate where everyone is. if its just me & syd she will say just mama and sydney today. she says SO many words and is very smart for her age!

We had great seats for the circus this year. sydney really enjoyed it. the elephants, tigers, motorcycles and trampoliens! we went with brookli & kayli! too much sugar for these girls because at one point i looked over and brook and syd were dancing! we had fun!

mommy's little helper. sydney talks talks talks. she has such a cute personality. i wish i could remember all the things she says because she is funny...guess i need to start writing them down. she gets me laughing all the time! i just love this sweet girl!

syndey loves to help me with laundry. she sits up on the dryer and puts the soap in and then stirs it in with the foon. (spoon) sydney can say her s's so i am not sure why she continues to say foon for spoon. its cute though.

powell trip

what a fun time we had at powell this year! we are very excited to be a part of this awesome house boat. sydney had such a fun time playing with all the "big kids". she slept very good at night and took her naps too! i thought the life jacket would be a little struggle...but she had no problem wearing it the whole time! syd also loves the water. she wanted to jump in the water every time we stopped the boat (ski boat) and then she would cry when it was time to get back in. the weather was beautiful...hot and sunny! we had one day of wind and that was all. we really had so much fun...surfing, skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, eating, playing. Josh provided our crafts and nail painting...haha! we had so much fun we are looking forward next year, and the next and the next!

starvation reserviour

summer has been busy for us. we had both family reunions back to back. the first was yellowstone and next weekend we went to starvation with criags family. we had fairly good weather...it did rain a few days. not to worry we can always play cards in grandmas motorhome. we also rented a nice motorhome for us...its the only way to camp. sydney LOVED the motorhome. i had a hard time keeping her away from the steering wheel and all the buttons up there. i think she thought it was our new house? now every time she sees a motorhome on the road she says "like grandma's motorhome mama". we had a great time despite a little rain. the weather was still warm and the water was good too. the first day we were there was Thursday and there were hardly any boats on the water. like us and one other person was all...then we realized that the campgound was closed and we pretty much had the whole lake to ourselves! could not figure out why they were doing construction in the camp ground in august?? but it was nice for us!!! friday was good too...and then by the weekend there were a few more boats. we ate, built sand castles, skied, wakeboarded, played cards, hunted scorpions and had a lot of fun! probably the last weekend of boating around here. powell in 3 weeks though! ;)

awww...that time of year again when we get to enjoy yellowstone. it is a long drive for little sydney but she got to see so many animals and learned some new ones. still hope to make this a yearly event with our family. we stayed in west yellowstone at our beautiful condo...indoor pool and all! the rest of the barson group stayed in the park in tents and trailers. sorry barson family i need a shower and a coffee maker. we had a great time and glad that angie and kyra were able to join us!! warning: our family is goofy see below! lol

4TH OF JULY

4th of july! one of my favorite holidays. we went to the west jordan parade with grandma and some neighbors. it was a fun parade but pretty warm weather...as expected in july. sydney really liked see the horses and the clowns. when the parade started and they were throwing out the candy sydney was a little confused...but boy by the end of the parade..she knew exactally what it was! candy, candy and more candy. oh well isnt that what holidays are about? later that evening we went to the west jordan carnival. sydney was too little to ride most of the rides but she loved the pony ride. we did come home with a very overpriced frog animal and a blow up dolphin. yippee! maybe next year she will be into fireworks??

18 months

syd is 18 months now and so much fun. (i think i keep saying tha over and over) only because it is true. she is happy and healthy and i could not ask for anything more. she is saying so many words now! everyday she picks up something new. i would make a list but really it would take 3 posts! sydney is a good eater and a good sleeper! her favorits would be mac and cheese and turkey dogs..typical kid! She loves playing at both grandmas houses and at her friends house next door, emma. the other day we were driving to grandma & grandpa colberts house and she ask if dakota (koda she says), syds cousin who is 5, would be there to play? i said no just grandma and grandpa. Then she askes...koda working? no i said koda is not working she is at her house. Pretty sure she said that because i tell her daddy is working. ;) fun conversations with the 18 month old! cant imagine life without her!

sydney loves animals. we have to point out the cows and the horses everytime we drive past some. gardner village was doing a baby animal petting zoo for little kids. it was really fun. sydney rode the horsey, twice. yes she talked her daddy into riding it 2 times, it wasn't hard. they also had goats, pigs, chickens, and rabbits that you could pet. oh and mommy's tulips are up and beautiful!

easter sunday 2010! easter kind of low key considering the 4 inches of snow we got easter morning! no easter egg hunt outside. ;( boo we are ready for the sunshine. we went to my moms for dinner and then to dye some easter eggs. sydney was not too into dyeing the eggs this year...she did try to tip over the color cups a few times. maybe better luck next year. now for eating the eggs....YUM! deviled eggs, egg salad sandwhiches...bring them on! sydney is getting big so fast. her vocabulary seems like it triples every day. she is repeating things we say and using her own words to communicate it is a fun age!! she is a sweet girl and we love having her in our family!

welcome to the 30's. i have to say i think the 30's will be better than the 20's. not that my 20's were bad in any way just looking forward to the 30's. so much to look forward to! raising my little girl, more time with my family, and being more comfortable with my life. for the celebration we went to wendover for a night away. i won a little money at the poker table and had a good time!! also went to dinner at my mom's the sunday before (yummy cheese soup and cornbread) and went out to dinner with craig's parents over the weekend at Asian Star! no big trip around the world yet! it was kind of a birthday week. my dad brought ballons and candy to my work on tuesday! i must say how much i love my family. so i dont even think i have a picture of any of these events...oh well you all know what i look like. ;)

this year for thankgiving we went with craigs family to st. george. thanksgiving in st george rocks..the weather was 70 and sunny!! we stayed with craigs brother and the rest of craigs family stayed at one of kurt and shawn's friends home, which is where we had turdey dinner to. its was a very nice home at the entrada golf course, theater room and all. the food was great and it was fun to be down there with the family. syd was a little under the weather..dang it. one of her first big colds and we are out of town. she was sure glad to be sleeping in her own bed when we got home.

well it has been one year since out precious little sydney has entered this world. she is the joy of my life. i think about her while she sleeps and cant wait to see her smiling face every morning. she is truley a happy baby. we had a fun birthday party for her with friends and family. she was so good at the party..she loved playing with all the other kids and seeing family too. it was fun to have everyone over, we dont do it much i guess. syd diffently raked in the toys and clothes! thanks to everyone who came and made her day special!

its 9:00 pm November 15, 2009...one year ago today this very moment we were in the hospital waiting for our little girl to arrive. we were suppose to go play poker with some friends when i started not feeling very good. as the contractions got worse i finally convinced craig that we better go to the hospital. when we arrived and they set us up in a room we still did not know if they would book us in for the night. finally i talked them into some pain medication because the contractions were getting stronger. when i dilated to a 2 a few hours later i was able to get the epidural (best $1200 i ever spent). the nurse came to check on me around 1 in the morning and said she wanted me to get some sleep because it would be a long night. She was leaving the shift at 6 in the morning and she assumed she would not be there when i delivered. at about 3:30 i started feeling more pain and called the nurse back. she was quite surprised to tell me that i had already dilated to a 10 and was ready to start pushing. 4:30 am that morning our lives changed forever. our precious little sydney was welcomed into this world. i remember seeing her big eyes staring at me when the doctor put her on my belly...i will never forget it.

One year has gone by so fast...everyone tells you this and it is true. i was so excited in the hospital to finally meet her i did not sleep much even though i was exhausted! craig kept saying you need to get some rest..even though i was tired i was excited. there we several nurses that helped out while we were in the hospital and i sent her to the nursery one night for a few hours so i could get some sleep. the nurse come to check on her in the morning and said "i remember her in the nursery last night and she was the cutiest girl in there".

our first night home with her we had no night light to see her in the dark. i remember trying a flashlight, the hall light, my lamp and finally my cell phone. No one told me we needed a night light! Craig went and got us one for the next night. She slept almost 5 hours at a time her first night. She has always been a good sleeper and i am very thankful for that. i enjoy every moment that i spend with my little one. I also enjoyed our times we use to spend together in the middle of the night. I was tired but always wanted to hold her and rock her back to sleep.

friends and family came to see her, and help us out, and brought us dinner. i was so grateful for them. we have the best family and friends anyone can ask for.

i am so happy. sydney has brought so much joy into our lives...it is really hard to describe. craig loves her so much and is such a great dad to her. and we are grateful she is a happy and healthy baby! and yes she will always be my baby. happy birthday syd!

the sunday before syd's birthday we went to the disney princess on ice. because criag was not to hip on going we had extra tickets. i cant lie i was really excited to go. i love doing these kinds of things and now i have someone to do them with. sydney was so good! she sat and watched most of the show! we did have good seats which helped that she could see what was going on. it was a fun day with her and friends!!

fun trip to powell with our friends. We had alot of kids with us. The weather was perfect! 80's during the day and 65 at night it was so beautiful. We were staying on a very nice houseboat which is always nice. Especially when you have kiddies!!

sydney 10 months

our little one is now 10 months old and quickly approaching 1!! We truly enjoy every moment with her. Some fun picture of her new favorites! Sydney loves bath time..dont all kids? She has always loved the water. Fun picture of her in the bath tub.

Meal time!! Syd likes to eat BUT she would prefer to feed herself. This was the first time we decided to let here try it herself! First time with the spoon...not sucessful but she is great at finger foods! Syd is starting to get out of the baby foods and eat "real" food, or whatever mommy & daddy are eating.

The doggie beds. I believe sydney thinks that they are small, fluffy and made just for her. Two beagles i know would think otherwise! She loves to play in their beds! Put all her toys in and out of them. Thankfully copper is VERY willing to share. Oscar on the other hand we just tell him they are hers now and he has to move. Oh and yes they are washable.

Off to see tom & trish in colorado for labor day! Sydneys first plane flight! She was soooo good on the plane. Luckily it was a short flight only an hour and 15 min. i was hoping she would sleep but too many new things for her to watch. We almost missed our flight and if it had not been for the stroller lane we probably would have. If you have a stroller they let you go throught the first class lane at the security. I think we will be taking a stroller with us from now on. haha Not sure what it is about us colberts and flying but i dont think we should make a habit of trying to miss our flight. Anyway...here we are on the plane! Syndey in her jammies...yes it was early.

We went to the Taste of Colorado. Fun and interesting to see downtown Denver and very different from Salt Lake.

the weekend with no plans turned out to be a fabulous weekend! We decided to take a little hike to dog lake. the dogs can run off leash on odd days of the month so its pretty much like a big dog park/hike. we had so much fun...sydney was in the back pack and did not mind it at all. i did not get a picture of it but i carried her the first part of the hike. I think we might have to invest in a bigger back pack for future adventures. Copper, the nicest dog in the world, ended up getting bit by another dog. no worries craig super glued him back together. (its cheaper than having the vet do it) kind of sad when pet owners can control their dogs but we still love going there and it is really a beautiful hike. Well we did not end up making it too the lake..it was a chilly day and mommy (me) forgot to bring a jacket or socks for sydney, or a bottle. That is why craig is holding her feets so they did not get cold. I either pack way too much or not enough...im learning. love spending time with my little family though!!

Finally a little boating time! the weather this year has been very cool so far. we finally made it out for our first time in june. Sydney loved the boat...yeah! i am so glad she liked the boat, she napped good and everything! It is fun to have her out there with us...now when can she start driving the boat? haha

Our annual family trip to yellowstone. This was sydneys first big trip and it was so much fun to have her there with us. She wont remember it but we took plenty of pictures to show her one day. When i was growing up we took many trips to yellowstone and loved it. There is just something about that place that is so peaceful and beautiful. The older i get the more i realize what a wonderful life i had growing up and i owe it all to my parents. What a fun trip...i am already planning one for next year...;)

my little sydney is 6 months old! this is my attempt to take some pictures of her at home. I think i need a better camera. Anyway i took roughly 200 pictures of her rolling around and kicking her legs and this is the picture that was the best. It was also the FIRST picture of her i took. I think i could have saved a few hours. ;)
i cant believe my little girl is 6 months old already. Time is flying by but i am loving every minute. She is such a happy girl we love her to pieces!

Happy Mothers Day! I guess you could say this is my first offical mothers day...not counting the beagle boys! I am so happy to be a mom and i dont know if i can find the right words to describe it. Sydney is such a joy in my life it makes me smile when i see her. I dont think you really understand until you are a mommy! Craig and i are enjoying every minute.

To my mom: thank you for being a wonderful mom. You are a great example of a caring and loving mom. Now that you are a grandma...thank you for helping us take care and love our little sydney. I sometimes stop and think how nice it would be if someone just took care of you and loved you all day long like a baby...and then i think that my mom did the same for me when i was little...thank you mom!

To my mother in law: first of all thank you for my criag! you have raised him to be a honest and hardworking man and i am thankful to you for that. You have also been a wonderful mother in law for me! i could not have asked for more. Thank you for helping watch our sydney. It is fun to share all of her first with you. you are a wonderful grandma.

more pictures of my baby girl. She now has 2 more teeth coming in the bottom. at the rate she is going she might have a full mouth by the time she is one! she jabbers all the time but only she know what she is saying. in the morning she will wake up a chat with herself for a while in her crib. it is so cute to listen to her.

sydney loves her daddy...always a big smile when she sees him, maybe it is because she has been with mommy all day and she is excited to see a new face. she also loves to feel his wiskers. i also heard her saying dada dada today...dont think she knows what she is saying yet or maybe craig is teaching her :)

syd is learning to get her binky in herself. sometimes she puts in it upside down. i had to snap a quick picture this time.

we were trying out the umbrella stroller one morning in our jamies. she seemed to really like it. i was worried about not having a shoulder strap on her but the belt went pretty much up to her arm pits anyway. we went to the mail box and back and around the house. she loves it.

so sydney is now 4 months and we are attempting to get her to sleep through the night (haha) the doc said we could try a little cereal if we wanted to so we gave it a shot. well i think that she actually liked the cereal and eating out of a spoon. whenever craig and i sit down to eat she watches us like a hawk. she is very interested in what we are doing. well despite our best efforts to get her little belly full she is STILL not sleeping through the night. ugg! how much longer i say?? i know it could be worse..she does about 6-7 hours at a time, which i guess i can live with for a few more months.

the other morning i was taking some photographs for work and walked into the living room to find this! aren't they so cute together! i could not help but take pictures of the two of them. copper just love sydney and always wants to be with her. i always knew that copper would be really really good with kids. he has always loved kids. those bigs floppy ears...who could resist!

finally a free minute to post a blog or two! my baby is sleeping, craig is at dinner with the boys and i dont have to work tomorrow!!! yeppee!!

Okay so where did i leave off...oh yeah syd was 3 months old when she got her first TEETH! yikes! way early i know...tell me about it i am still breastfeeding her. I thought i had her figured out and then whabam! it is so sad to see her hurting! Next came her 4 month shots...she did pretty good. i must say i have a very healthy babe(cross your fingers) she has not had one sickness to date even through the winter. what a sweet baby we have...we are very blessed!

my little baby is now 3 months old. I know everyone says how fast they grow and i believe them! she is so fun. every day she discovers something new. one day its her hand the next its her foot. i just love how she stairs things down to try to figure out what they are. she loves watching the dogs and they love being with her. Copper is still giving her too many wet kisses...but that means that he loves her. She is already in love with baby einstein...the DVD's, what baby isn't right? she smiles big when you smile at her and she has the cutest dimples. lots of smiles in the morning when she wakes up. she can see things across the room and last but not least she burps like a man!! haha i laugh every time i burp her because it is so loud. i love being mommy...there is just nothing like it.

29 years old today!! (next year we will celebrate big) For my b-day this year we stayed low key. Dinner at my mom's, boat show with our friends, and way too much cake! Craig suprised me with a necklace that he had made just for me. The stone is sydney's birth stone and it is a triangle shape which represents the three of us. I love it...thanks honey!

merry christmas everyone! this has been a bit different holiday season at the colberts. with our new addition there has not been a lot of time for shopping, wrapping and the usual holiday stuff. but there is one thing that we do every year no matter how hectic the season gets....christmas cards! i love christmas cards. i love getting them, reading them and i love mailing ours out to everyone too. every year i pull out the shoe box full of cards from years past and sit down and read all of them again. i could do without most of the commercial holiday stuff...but not the christmas cards from our friends and family!

wow time flies! our little sydney is already 4 weeks old. where do i start...we love her more than words can express and we are so happy she is in our life. new momma is a little tired but sydney is sleeping 5 hours at a time a night and from what i hear we are lucky. i cant believe that she is already holding her little head up. she is such a good baby. the dogs like to smell her and snuggle up to her when she is on the couch. oscar always tries to curl up in her boppy because it is just the right size for him too. the little teddy bear outfit that she is wearing was something that her daddy picked out especially for her and she loves it because it keeps her nice and toasty!

i want to add a special thanks to our family and friends. we are so thankful for all the warm wishes, nice dinners, the baby showers, and all the gifts that we received! thank you! thank you! thank you! we are so greatful for our wonderful friends and family!

my last photo before the big day. for some reason i just had an idea that we would be welcoming our little girl into the world this weekend. so i had craig snap a few last photos of me & my belly. I told my work that i would not be in on monday and left all the sticky notes on the files for my leave...even they said yeah right we will see you on monday. saturday we ended up walking the doggies around the neighborhood...twice! they were so excited to get walked twice in one day (they have been a little deprived of our walks this summer). well it must have worked because not more that 2 hours after our last walk we were on our way to the hospital.

UPDATE...Okay so baby colbert (still no name) is not here yet...but we are counting down the days!! nov 19 is the exact date but i hope she decides to come a titch early. like the 14 or 15 would be good for me! haha...dont think you can plan these things but here's to trying.

I am way behind on the blog. sorry. i have a list as long as my arm to do before the baby gets here...you know the whole nesting thing. i work until about 6 or 7 every night at the office and then at home in my office for the rest of the night in between loads of laundry and attempting to fix a good meal for my hubby. i still need to post about the wonderful baby showers that i have had...i feel very lucky to have such wonderful friends and family. also still need to post about my dad's b-day, our anniversary, criags work in the babies room etc etc...i will find time hopefully before she gets here. oh an we need a name for the little one...any suggestions??? we have a lot of friends with girls and a lot of family with girls so its slim pickens on the girls names.

copper & oscar enjoying a treat! we save our almost empty peanut butter jars to give to them. they both LOVE peanut butter and it takes them hours to lick all the peanut butter from the jar. oscar is better at this than copper cuz his snout is smaller and he can get the whole thing in the jar...haha. then they chew on the jar for a few more hours. cheap yummy toys!

Okay okay...here are some photos of my growing belly. I have to say that i feel pretty lucky with this pregnancy, no sickness yet! Hopefully we contine this for the last 2 months. Sleeping at night is a little more difficult however. I still have not figured out how to sleep with a pillow between my knees and not take all the covers when i roll over...sorry honey!

Craig and i (mostly the i part) thought this might be our last camping/boating trip we would be able to sleep in our tent. So we packed up the boys and the boat and headed for starvation. The last time we used our full size air mattress we decided it was not made for two...and for sure not three (counting the baby in my belly). So i had a another plan...lets get 2 air mattresses that way we would each have our own and we would be able to get some sleep.

The first night went pretty good...for me that is. Craig's air mattresses had a hole in it and after a few hours he was on the ground. So the second night he bought a fix it kit...but that did not work either cuz he was on the ground that night too. To make matters worse that night it rained and hailed and the wind blew all night long.

The dogs got freaked out in the tent and put their own large doggie door in one side of the tent. UGG! The third night we slept in the dumpy hotel in Duchesne! The tent (used 3 times TOTAL) made its way to the trash can at the lake and i guess this might be the end of tenting for the colberts.

Despite the sleeping accommodations and a little bit of rain we still had a good time! Good friends, a couple of poker games and a little sunshine here and there and it was fun!

doggie casino night

Our neighbor was in charge of doing the photo shoot for the doggie casino night...a fundraiser for no more homeless pets. Craig so kindly volunteered his time and talents to paint the back drop for the photo event. So we piled the boys in the car and attended the fundraiser. The event was in the Hilton hotel downtown...i have to say it was a little funny to see all these dogs running around. The Hilton is a nice hotel and i am sure there were some guests there that were wondering why all these doggies were runing around?? Anyway it was Copper and Oscar's first time downtown, in a nice hotel and their first elevator ride! I might be a little partial...but i think they are both very photogenic pooches!

We had a fundraiser poker night to raise money for our friend who's husband passed away at the sand dunes. Craig and I both did not play super good...but it was fun and for a good cause. Thanks to all our friends who donated and those who came!

I have wanted to go to Lake Powell ever since we bought our boat a few years ago. So finally when we make plans to go i am pregnant and cant wakeboard, ski or surf! Oh well a weekend in the sun with good friends was worth it. Craig and i decided we would rent us a motorhome to have a little ac and a nice bed to sleep in. Well we made it about 3 hours before we were broke down at the little mechanic shop in Beaver! Rentals...Ugg!! Luckily Craig talked to the owner of the shop who was very nice and stayed late to get us fixed. Thankfully...we were back on the road in no time! Powell was really beautiful. We camped at Lone Rock which is by the Wahweap Marine.

Craig and I are expecting our first baby in November! Yippee! We were too anxious to find out what the sex was there was no way we could have waited. Our 18 week ultrasound went very well and everything looked great. She was a little camera shy and would not show her face, for sure she takes after her dad on this one! I was excited to find out it was a girl but I think both of us would have been happy either way. We are very excited and I must admit a little nervous to think we are going to be raising a little one! Now its time for my favorite part...shopping!

In memory of our good friend Steve who died Sunday May 25 from an motorcycle accident. Steve was always the life of the party and made a huge impression on every single person he met. It was important to him that everyone around him was happy, and he was constantly making people laugh. Steve always had a huge smile on his face a smile we will never forget! We will miss him a lot!
